A Few New Quilts

I have recently finished up some quilts that I have had laying around. It seems like I am really good at getting the tops done but drag my feet on the quilting. I try and hand quilt at one quilt a year and would like to do more but the frame takes up so much room that one is about all I get done. I do not own a quilting machine and never got the hang of quilting on my Bernina so I take mine to a local machine quilter and love her work. This first quilt is a block of the month from several years ago, in fact the quilt shop is out of business. They offered this in two color ways and I made both but have since sold the one that was made with brights. This is the Batik color way.
All the squares are quilted with a Celtic motif.

New Bird Quilt

I finally have pictures of my most recent quilt. The fussy cut centers are from Alexander Henry's Bird fabric. The fabric that surrounds the center is from various makers; Alexander Henry,Michael Miller,Joel Dewberry etc.....
I had it machine quilted with a "double bubble" pattern. I will be listing it in my etsy store- http://www.etsy.com/shop/fabricfriend-soon:)

Happy Sunday

Well, another busy week here and word is we are supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow on top of a little ice that will start falling late tonight:) Snow day here we come-maybe Tuesday. I started my new on-line class and am getting my sketch book already. Found some cool new charcoal and graphite pencils and I am ready .
I finished another quilt using Alexander Henry's Starling fabric that I fussy cut. It kind of looks like a smaller one I did but this one is set with white and the backing and binding is red with white dots.

New Quilts

Here are a couple of new quilts that I just got back from the machine quilter.

This is a Filmstrip Quilt. I have not used this color scheme in a long time-I think it turned out pretty good.

This was a block of the month I made a few years back and just got around to the setting and quilting. Both soon to be in the etsy store.

I am trying to stay busy around here. My professional life is in a bit of turmoil. Hopefully that will be straightened out soon. In the mean time here are some pictures of what I have been working on. Check out my shop on etsy.

Lovely Alexander Henry Starlings fabric.

This pattern is from an old issue of Fons and Porter.

I love using bits of old stuff to create this little art quilts.

SOLD

WOW!! I just sold a quilt!! One of the volleyball moms saw a quilt I was using at a tournament and said she really liked it and before I knew it offered to purchase it. I will post pictures but it is a pink/gray quilt that I made using the pattern from Oh,Fransson's site-ohfransson.com.It is the modern quilt pattern-she had a quilt along that I missed but I did make the quilt. In fact I have made two using the same pattern and I am not crazy about either one of them. I love the pink and gray fabric but do not like how it is machine quilted and do not like the rust fabric that I picked for the other one at all. Do not know what I was thinking.
I don't sell very much so when I do have a sale it is cause for celebration! It gives you that boost of confidence to keep creating.
