Mini Prayer flag

Quilting Arts had a submission call for mini prayer flags and this is what I submitted. I have made the bigger ones to hang out on the fence but these are really tiny. Having just finished the Frozen Charlotte hearts I used the same technique to create five prayer flags.
Tea dyed muslin and cheese cloth. I added had embroidery and the words are stamped onto muslin strips.

Frozen Charlotte Sacred Heart

I love how these turned out.
I put a muslin hanger on the back.

Pins and Needles

I am teaching a couple of classes next week and just finished up the samples. The first is a "Spoolie" pincushion. Students will make either the heart or the bird. The second is a Linen Needle Book with embroidery on the front and yo-yo's on the back.

Blue Bird Slippers

I have spent the past month cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! Re-organizing and donating things that I have not used or worn in a long time. There is  something about cleaning and getting rid of stuff that makes you feel good. I have managed to squeeze in some creative time and here is a look at a pair of slippers that I finished.
I am listing several sewing/quilting/craft books over at my etsy site fabricfriend.etsy.com. So, if you are in need of some summer reading head over and take a look.

Cute Vintage Pillow

Here is a sweet little pillow that I finished this week. I found the embroidery in with a stack of vintage linens I purchased at a flea market. I added red piping and used a vintage pillow case for the backing and back.
The stack included two other panels. One features a Dutch boy and girl dancing and the third has a farmer with a basket walking through a garden. I am pretty sure they were done by the same person but not sure if they were part of a larger project or not. I am finishing both of them off as pillows as well. This Hi Diddle- Diddle would be cute in a babies room.
