Vintage Junk Journal

This is a journal I made for my swap partner on swap-bot. Sort of a cross between a junk journal, Smash book and daily journal.

Cover with the Statue of Liberty and beautiful metal charm.

Page with Tim Holtz paper clip.

Washi Tape border

Pocket page with opening at the top and stitching and bull dog clip

Pins and Needles

I am teaching a couple of classes next week and just finished up the samples. The first is a "Spoolie" pincushion. Students will make either the heart or the bird. The second is a Linen Needle Book with embroidery on the front and yo-yo's on the back.

Completed!

Chair number two is done and looks great! The fabric is from Waverly and I found it at Old Time Pottery for $2.96 a yard! A steal. The only catch you have to take the whole piece, so it could measure anywhere from 1 yard to 10 yards. Mine was a little under 5 yards. Still a great deal.

Chair Update

Before and after of the first chair. I think it turned out amazing. It has been awhile since I have reupholstered anything so I am pleased. Moving on to  chair two!
Before

After-I still need to add trim around the back.

Back-Also needs the trim.
I found the fabric at Jo-Ann's on clearance for $2.99 a yard and purchased 2 yards. The foam was the most expensive thing to replace.
Thanks for looking.

Beauty Update

An update on my "new" chairs. I stripped all the old fabric and batting off and painted them this beautiful cream color. I added new webbing and foam and they are ready for the batting to smooth them out and then  new upholstery fabric. Love the fret work on both.
Before with the burgundy upholstery.
After-stripped, painted and ready to cover.

Before-this one had another layer of upholstery underneath. I was going to try and save it but when I took off the first layer the seat was torn and threadbare.

After-stripped, painted and ready to cover.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

Schools out and my list of summer projects continues to grow and multiply. We painted the living room, entry way and hall and are in the process of updating and redecorating. I stumbled upon  a couple of chairs at our local antique mall and loved the shape and the bones were good so I decided to recover them. I have done some upholstery in the past but it has been awhile. Here is what they look like right now.
Chair one-I love the cane work on the side panels and the legs bu that burgundy has to go!
Tufted back. The recover will not have this.

The springs under the foam and batting are still in good shape.

Chair two-Again, love the cut work on the sides.

Stay tuned for more.

Steampunk

Just finished up a new steampunk mini album. I was lucky enough to locate a Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante 12 X 12 paper pack and decided to make another policy envelope album. The new Graphic 45 Steampunk paper is great but I really love the "old" line. Lots of pictures. This will be available on my etsy site

Close up of the charms on the front of the album. They include a clock face, Chinese coin, trinket tag. and three bead charms that I made.

Lovely cover with fussy cut images from the line and 3-d embellishments. I put some fuzzy trim on the binding and a few metal findings.
