Happy Sunday

Well, another busy week here and word is we are supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow on top of a little ice that will start falling late tonight:) Snow day here we come-maybe Tuesday. I started my new on-line class and am getting my sketch book already. Found some cool new charcoal and graphite pencils and I am ready .
I finished another quilt using Alexander Henry's Starling fabric that I fussy cut. It kind of looks like a smaller one I did but this one is set with white and the backing and binding is red with white dots.

New Bag/New Class

So,here is another new bag that is listed in my etsy store. http://www.etsy.com/shop/fabricfriend
I really like this one because of all the vintage lace, trim and fabric that it has. I am making some bags for a show coming up that will include images of Frida Kahlo-very exciting!
I am enrolled in an on-line class through Quilt University called Playing with Paint. The instructor is Lyric Kinard. Look her up. She makes fabulous stuff.

Snow Day

Another snow day! I love having them but hate making them up at the end of the school year. Our district does not build any in so if we miss we make them up.
I have another follower!!!!! It is one of my blog goals for the year to increase my followers. So thanks to Barbara Jean at http://treasuresfromtheheartgifts.blogspot.com I only need 42 more to reach my goal for this year:) Ideas??????

New Bag and Art Classes

Well, the snow that was not going to get here until tomorrow arrived last night. Not much to speak of but enough to get the kids thinking about snow days. I have signed up for an on-line class with Lyric Kinard,Playing With Paint, and am really looking forward to getting started. She does amazing work. On top of that I sign up for on-line classes with Strathmore the folks who produce artist's sketch books and materials. They have some great workshops and they are free and have both a pdf and video.
I am posting pictures of a bag a recently listed on http://fabricfriend.etsy.com. I love making these bags! They are made from a pair of cargo pants. Really. I have seen this idea floating around out on the web for some time and decided to try my hand at it. Once I figured out how big I wanted the bag the rest was pretty easy. I have not included directions but there are plenty out there on the web. I do try to use vintage fabric like bark cloth or some cool old sheets but you could do what ever. Hope you decide to make one and be sure to send me pictures!
Working on my New Year's resolutions!
Tara

This is the front. It has a little bird and some flowers embroidered there.

The front pocket that is right behind the flap, also has a little bird. The pocket has a velcro closure.

I love this back. The top says "forever+ever" and the bottom says "hopelessly so".

Hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year's Eve. This year really went fast as all seem to be doing now that I am getting older. Oh well, onto 2011. Before I forget be sure to check out the give away at cindyatkinswhimsicalmusing.blogspot.com
On to some New Year's resolutions that I have for my creative self and here they are:
*take some on-line classes (already signed up for two)
*participate in the art journal every day project over at balzerdesigns.typepad.com
*blog more-I would say everyday but I know that will not happen
*nurture my creative self-let me know if you have any suggestions on that one :)
It is hard to take time just for us. But if we don't who will?
*enjoy creating
That's it for now. I would love to hear any resolutions that you have made.
Go enjoy!
